Woodland

"In this piece, I was striving to create a work in which I could almost hear the rustle of the leaves as I walked through the forest. I knew what I wanted in the composition but, I was not sure how I would simulate the forest sounds visually. In the end, I masked out the tree trunks and started splattering to create the leaves. After several layers of splattering and masking out the light-colored leaves, I had arrived at the texture that I was striving for. This all was accomplished in acrylics. The trunks were painted in watercolor."
