Summer Beauties

While I was taking part in the Symposium at Lotbinière, I saw many varieties and colors of flowers in the day lily family. The month was August. I painted a work of a deep red lily while I was there. The variety and depth of color was unbelievable.

Upon my return to Montreal, I went to the Montreal Botanical Gardens to look for more day lilies. I was not disappointed. There were large beds of lilies everywhere I turned. I was able to study and observe the many colors they displayed. SUMMER BEAUTIES is the result of this study. My approach with the color is discussed on the TIP PAGE.
