Poppies


My oriental poppies still continue to amaze me every June. They are planted in the corner of the garden amongst the bearded irises & beside the star magnolia. The red ones are intense in their redness. I felt that acrylic washes would acheive that special color. I used both warm & cool reds for the flowers & background & added green to darken the negative space.
