Night




This watercolor was inspired by MAINE MORNING. I am familiar with this site as I visit it annually in October. I felt that this scene had all the right elements to be painted in a variety of ways. Indigo is a wonderful dark, but it is sedimentary and can deaden the darks in a painting. I decided to use two transparent and and staining colors to create the cool nighttime dark.
