Netherlands Gift

Each year the Netherlands sends tulip bulbs to our national capital, Ottawa as a thank you for our hospitality to the royal family during World War II. Each year tulips are one of the first flowers that we see in the garden. They are symbolic of hope and renewal. The tulips this year burst into bloom and then we had a snowfall. That did not harm them. They seemed to gather strength from that event and stayed longer. The first tulips in the garden are cause for celebration.
