Light in the Dark 2

In January, I revisited Selby Gardens in Sarasota. The greenhouse is a sensual delight at this time of the year. The humidity touches your skin, the musky dampness fills your nostrils, and the light glowing in the orchids is almost blinding in the dark and filtered light atmosphere. This orchid is only one of the many varieties and colors that I saw. With my watercolors, I strove to have minimal and cool pigment on the flower and dense and warm darks in the surrounding negative space.

Dimensions: 30 x 22
