In the Poppy Patch

" The magnificent oriental poppies appear in the garden every June. They are planted amongst the bearded irises & both families of flowers show their faces at the same time. The poppies bloom for only a few days. As much as we need rain for healthy flowers, I pray for no rain while the poppies are in bloom, because the rain causes the petals to fall. This particular time, it did rain & the weight of the water caused the poppies to bend towards the ground. It was just right for my poppy composition."

The painting 'In the Poppy Patch' has been accepted for the "Southern Waters 2001" exhibition at the South Sussex Art Center in Leamington, Ontario. The exhibition will be held from June 13-July 29.
