Forest Dream

The moment I turned this work in the direction that it is now standing, I had the sense of trees. I started the painting by applying loose washes of warm and cool reds. Before it dried, I spritzed it with alcohol. I turned the work in all four directions looking for the next place to apply color. As I turned the paper, magical things happened. Color pushed against color creating wonderful moving shapes. When all the shapes pleased me, I laid the paper on a flat surface. It was now a matter of painting in some darks (blue, green, & violet) to enhance the shapes. For me, the bubbles floating around the tree shapes give the work a dream-like quality.
