Evening Light

This watercolor was started as a demonstration painting at the SCA
Salon this year. Sometimes, demonstrations start well and I can
visualize them as a completed work. I worked with transparent
staining primary colors for this work. This allowed me to return
into the painting many times to achieve the darks that I wanted.
There was very little drawing on this watercolor; many of the shapes
were created using masking fluid. Sponging, spattering and water
spraying, and negative painting were the principal techniques.
