Dahlia

The giant dahlias come into bloom in August in Montreal. The botanical gardens have large beds of these magnificent flowers in multiple colors. They are so profuse that they are difficult to see individually. DAHLIA is my response to that visual challenge. It is executed in a simple triadic palette in wet-in-wet and glazing techniques. What I was looking at was the poetic movement of a selection of individual petals.

Dimensions: 22 x 30
