Canna

Each August at the Montreal Botanical Gardens, there are several flower beds of Canna. They come in a large variety of color from cream to intense yellow to orange to deep red.
The petals hang in a panoply of graceful movement which is captivating to see. In November, after the first traces of snow, my thoughts are in warmer places. This is the time of the year when I paint large flowers. The canna grows in Montreal in the summer; the canna grows in Florida in the winter. This canna is from the Montreal Botanical Gardens.
This watercolor has been selected for ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES, a CSPWC Exhibition to be held at the Roberts Gallery, Toronto, June 15-July 15, 2005
