Calla Lilies




Recently, at World Watercolor Day, I arranged a bouquet of flowers for my students to paint. In amongst the flowers were some calla lilies.

I viewed the bouquet from all sides looking for a composition of the Calla lilies. The TIP PAGE this month will show my process to find the composition. During that day, I painted the composition as you see it here, but I was not happy with the temperature dominance. I decided to redo the painting using a warm negative space. This work was painted with a limited palette of five colors.
