Aquaworld

Although this work may appear to have a recognizable subject, I am
calling it an abstract. The paper is 140 lb hot press paper. The
painting was started with no pre-conceived thought or direction. I
poured small quantities of masking fluid in different areas on the
paper. With water spray, I sprayed the edges of each of these areas
of masking fluid and tilted the paper to encourage them to move in
random patterns. After the masking fluid was dry, I turned the paper
in different directions. Blue and violet watercolors were poured
onto the surface and moved with a spray of water. With only blue and
violet, I was sensing water movement. The rock-like shapes were
applied with paint squeezed from the tube onto a plastic card which
became my painting tool. More spraying of water and a minimal amount
of brush work and AQUAWORLD appeared.
