Afterglow




Afterglow is a demonstration painting for a workshop. The idea was to take a photographic reference and create an original piece from it. The reference was of a summer scene in full daylight. I started the work with a yellow and yellow/orange wash. I then looked at the opposite side of the COLOR WHEEL (violet) and continued with violet and mixes of violet and the other colors on the color wheel. At the end, I spattered some intense color in the dark area to open it up, remembering the LIGHT IN THE DARK.
